No Oil Vegan American Cheese, Sliceable

1 ¼ cups water (to dissolve the agar powder)

4 teaspoons agar powder

½ cup water

1 cup cashews, soaked

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ cup nutritional yeast flakes

3 tablespoons tahini or sesame seeds

1 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice


Soak the cashews for 2 hours or overnight.

Bring the water to a boil and add the agar powder. Simmer for no longer than 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. Do not overheat.

Blend the remaining ingredients in a blender until you get a creamy consistency, and then add the agar mixture. Blend a few seconds to mix.

Spray a pan with some oil before pouring the mix in it.

Place the pan in the fridge for at least 4 hours before serving. Remove and cut in squares to use on top of crackers or bread. Use on top of your favorite veggie burger.
